When was it established?
Anime Expo started in San Jose, California in 1991 before SPJA took over in 1992. In 1994, Anime Expo moved to Southern California and has remained there since. AX has been held in various different cities, such as Anaheim, Oakland, and Long Beach, with the official location being in Los Angeles. Over the years, Anime Expo’s popularity has grown tremendously, and it is now the largest anime convention in North America!

What to expect?
The best days to attend are Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday having more panels and events than any other day. Both days can go until after midnight, with various different social gatherings such as dances, karaoke, and parties to attend! Make sure to come bright and early in order to get your badges quickly and avoid long lines and traffic, as well as get first in line on panels or snag merchandise before it’s sold out!

Enjoy yourself!
It can be very easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of Anime Expo, which is why you must not forget to bring water and food in a bag of some kind. Summer in Los Angeles can be very hot, so make sure to stay hydrated and cool as much as you need, with shorts and t-shirts being recommended. There is also plenty of merchandise, so make sure to bring plenty of cash/debit card with you to be prepared if you see that figure you love!
